About Artist Penny.Badger
All my life I have been inspired by nature and have loved painting and drawing, being creative is my passion and joy.
I grew up by the sea and surrounded by countryside so I have always had inspiration for my creative outlets.
Walking on the beach and in nature has always been one of my favorite things to do.
Now I have a large garden bursting with plants, flowers and wild animals along with my white grey cat Mia who is never far away, sleeping amongst the flowers or on the window sill watching the birds.
I sketch and make notes whilst out and about which become the source of my paintings, birds singing in the hedgerows, flowers basking in the sun, hares dashing across the fields.
I collect leaves, stones, shells and sand to remember colours and textures and make colour swatches and sketches of favourite scenes.
I like to revisit places to discover the changing light, weather and seasons.
I work in my studio using acrylics, collage, inks, pencil, gouache and found objects.
My paintings are an interpretation of what I have seen and felt, remembering happy sun filled moments.
My favourite artists that have inspired me include Matisse, Winifred Nicholson and Van Gogh.
I have trained towards a BA with Middlesex University and UCA Canterbury Kent and terms at The Slade UCL London
